Jack Radio has partnered with the Music Week Women In Music Awards to sponsor the Roll Of Honour.

The Roll Of Honour welcomes 12 new inductees each year, to recognise women who have made a significant contribution to the music industry

Nominations are now closed for this event which will be held at The Brewery in London on Friday, November 8.

Global’s has appointed James Rea as new Director of Broadcasting.

Global’s has appointed James Rea as their new director of broadcasting, replacing Richard Park who has been with Capital and then Global for nearly 30 years. He will now oversee all programming and brand output for Global’s radio brands and take a position on the main Global Radio board.

Absolute Radio and Frank Skinner will be hosting comedy fundraiser, Stand up to Cancer this year.

Tickets are now on sale for the gig, which will take place at the London Palladium on 24th November.

Podcasts are getting shorter.

Over the last five years, newly launched podcasts have been getting shorter.

A study was created using data from the podcast RSS feeds for all 549 podcasts that appeared in the Apple Podcasts Top 200 list between March 6th-May 11th, 2019 which showcased a rise in shorter podcast episode lengths in the last 5 years as well as more varied episode lengths.

There are numerous reasons for this including listeners attention span, a wider range of podcasts to choose from that offer shorter episodes, costs and that having shorter episodes, increases the number of downloads leading to more revenue.
