This week, it’s all about the post RAJAR shuffles and strategies of the big radio groups as they make some big changes in their jockeying for a bigger share of the market.

Virgin Radio looks to the future as their investment in probably the biggest name in radio, Chris Evans, is off to a flying start with very impressive listenership increases.

Global has made a small u-turn and a big scoop in it’s networking plans for Smooth Radio. Unlike its sister networks Smooth’s breakfast shows will stay local, and they’ve poached Angie Greaves from Magic to present the national drive show.

After just 12 months, Bauer is shaking up the breakfast show on its Hits DAB network as Gethin, Gemma, and Dave go their separate ways.

Hertfordshire should probably be renamed Heart-fordshire as Bob FM, recently acquired by Communicorp, re-brands and joins the Heart network giving the station total coverage in the county.

Highlight of the Week:

Audible have just released Alien III, an alternative audio version to the (some say disappointing) original movie. Based on a script by legendary sci-fi author William Gibson, and featuring actors from Alien II, it showcases the ambition and scale of contemporary audio drama.
