Soundbites: The Week in Audio - 15.03.19

This week’s blog takes a look at Capital breakfast going nationwide, Bauer’s land grab, Frank Skinner’s upcoming ten hour stint and the launch of season two, Norris & Parker’s Sketch Therapy.

Following Global’s recents regional radio shows cuts from Capital, Heart and Smooth stations to provide a centralised service broadcast from London, Roman Kemp is due to launch a nationwide breakfast show.

The national breakfast show, Capital Breakfast with Roman Kemp, will launch on the 8th of April, replacing Capital’s 14 regional morning programmes, and will feature local news and travel information produced locally in each part of the UK and inserted into the show.

Bauer Media has announced the launch of Country Hits Radio, the UK’s first national country music radio brand, at the height of a renewal of interest in the genre. It is Bauer’s third station launch in as many months - following Scala and Jazz FM - indicating newfound confidence in the audio market.

Frank Skinner is to broadcast for a ten-hour stint on Saturday to celebrate a decade on air at Absolute Radio.

His show, kicking off at 8am, will also feature a reunion with David Baddiel as well as a guest appearance from Tim Key plus regular co-hosts Emily Dean and Alun Cochrane.
