Soundbites: The Week in Audio - 18.05.18

This week’s blog of course takes a look at the RAJAR Q1 2018 results, Mental Health Awareness Week, the lucky new DAB listeners plus much more.

Excitement mixed with trepidation was passing through the UK on Wednesday, like a storm brazing repeat from earlier this year. As we all know, it was due to the release of the RAJAR Q1 2018 results. And what a day for radio listening in the UK it was. We’ve crossed the X’s and circled the O’s and put together a breakdown of the need-to-know results.

This week was an important one for many. All around the country and for the first time in history, hundreds of radio stations across the UK came together to broadcast MentalHealthMinute – a one-minute message from some world famous voices to let everyone know that whoever you are, however you’re feeling and whatever you’re going through, it’s okay to voice it. This year Mental Health Awareness Week (14th - 20th May) was focusing on stress. With research showing that two thirds of us experience a mental health problem in our lifetimes, and stress is a key factor.

Highlight of the Week:

As part of this year's Radio Audio Week, we laid claim to another stunning audio presentation from the creative mind of Global Head of Creative & Content of our sister company, Red Apple Creative, Kathleen Moroney.

Red Apple showcased their first ever voice only presentation for the IAB Sound investment Seminar 2018, exploring synthetic voice and human connection in ‘Poetry in Automotion’. It was funny, insightful, emotionally engaging and we feel the need to share the amazing work that went on show.

Listen to ‘Poetry in Automotion’ in Red Apple Creative's blog post here.
