Conservative politician Jacob Rees-Mogg will host a new live phone in on LBC as part of their Spring schedule changes. The man some people have called “the MP for the 18th Century” will be getting to grips with modern radio as he joins Nick Ferrari at Breakfast every two weeks with a live phone-in.
Rees-Mogg said: “I am greatly looking forward to conversing with LBC’s listeners every fortnight. In the programmes I have done already, the good sense and wisdom of the callers has educated, informed and challenged me while furthering polite political discourse. I hope for more of the same.”

Two new transmitters have been launched as part of the historic local DAB coverage expansion programme: one at Edinburgh Castle serving the Edinburgh multiplex, and the other at Fishguard serving the Mid and West Wales multiplex.
The transmitters are the final two to launch as part of the programme, meaning the expansion of local DAB coverage is now complete. Overall, the expansion - delivered by Arqiva - has brought new transmitters or modifications to 221 local DAB sites, doubling the local DAB network. This adds up to an astonishing 10 million listeners across the UK having been brought into coverage.

Brand new online radio station United DJs was launched on Monday at 7am. Founded by former Radio Luxembourg presenter Tony Prince and based in his studios in Maidenhead, the station was officially opened by former Radio 1 Breakfast show presenter Mike Read.
Tony said: “Just like the Pirate era the people who became DJs out of their love for music will shape United DJs Radio. I also have certain non-DJs with fabulous A&R skills recommending new music. The DJs on UDJ can play just what they like within a format of a 7-decade mix but they must play an element of new music releases. The DJs are in effect their own programme director.”

Highlight of the Week:
The results are in! Radio X listeners have been voting for their favourite songs in the station's third annual Best Of British poll. And the winner is (imagine a Britpop drumroll here…) Live Forever by Oasis!
Noel Gallagher responded by praising the station’s listeners: “Radio X listeners YOU are the wind beneath my wings… YOU are the perfectly heated water in the swimming pool of my third home... the loose change down the back of my Gorilla skin sofa…My children and my children's children's children will quaff in your general direction for many years to come. I salute you."
