Christian O’Connell is to leave Absolute Radio after presenting the breakfast show for 12 years. The UK’s most awarded commercial radio presenter has said he is leaving the UK and “heading off somewhere new for a big new adventure for me and my family.” Absolute Radio, who have wished O’Connell well in his move, will make an announcement in due course about his replacement.

talkSPORT launched their brand new show, The Scottish Football Show on Thursday. Presented by Ally McCoist, Mark McGhee and devoted to everything Scottish football, the show will air every week from 7pm-10pm on talkSPORT in Scotland. An edited version will be repeated across the UK on talkSPORT 2 on Fridays, followed by a podcast of the show.

The third annual Local Radio Day has been announced for Friday 25th May. The day is a platform for local radio stations to come together and celebrate their work, and connection with their communities of listeners. Dave Coull, UKRD’s Group Content Director said: “it’s only appropriate that those working in, and those that listen to, proper local radio are the given the opportunity to share in and celebrate their passion for it and the areas it broadcasts to.”

Dance music station Vibe FM is to return to East Anglia, where it aired across the region from 1997 to 2006. The station, which was rebranded to KISS FM in 2006, will return as a 24-hour online radio station at the beginning of February. Founding station member Glen White said: “After hosting the Vibe Resurrection stage at Zombie Fest 3, it was clear there is still a lot of love for what Vibe stood for so we decided to bring it back ourselves.”
