Global have announced that Founder and Executive, President Ashley Tabor, is stepping down from his role as Managing Editor of Capital after a year in charge of the brand. Richard Park will reassume leadership of Capital, in the same way he oversees all the other Global brands, in addition to his capacity as Group Director of Broadcasting. Capital London has lost a quarter of a million listeners in the last four surveys, from Q4 2015 to Q4 2016, dropping from 2m to 1.7m weekly listeners.
Bauer have launched a new marketing campaign to promote Magic Radio, with a new television commercial at the heart of it. he ad features songs by The Communards, Aha and Duran Duran, along with a new line “Love That Song”. It fits in with the station’s new strap line of “More of the songs you love” which is now on-air. Magic has also introduced a new jingle package and announced that Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott are taking over breakfast later this year.
On the digital side of things, Chris Forrester has left Spotify after less than a year in the role of UK country manager. Spotify hired Forrester in May last year and tasked him with leading the UK operation. Forrester reported to Jonathan Forster, EMEA vice-president of sales. Forrester was previously managing director at Primesight, where he worked for four years. Spotify confirmed Forrester’s exit but would not disclose the reasons for his departure, nor whether he would be replaced. Forrester said the split was "amicable" and declined to comment further. Bertozzi said: "We thank Chris for his hard work and wish him the best for the future."
